Everyday Valentine

Valentine
by Carol Ann Duffy

Not a red rose or a satin heart.

I give you an onion.
It is a moon wrapped in brown paper.
It promises light
like the careful undressing of love.

Here.
It will blind you with tears
like a lover.
It will make your reflection
a wobbling photo of grief.

I am trying to be truthful.

Not a cute card or a kissogram.

I give you an onion.
Its fierce kiss will stay on your lips,
possessive and faithful
as we are,
for as long as we are.

Take it.
Its platinum loops shrink to a wedding-ring,
if you like.

Lethal.
Its scent will cling to your fingers,
cling to your knife.

I'm sorry I haven't been myself lately but it doesn't mean that I love you any less...

We all have our moments, but one thing is for sure, at the end of the day -- we still love the man in our lives. Smile Sher :)

That is so beautiful. The tears are starting to drip down my cheeks. That is so accurately how love feels for me too, and you express it so beautifully.

That's a wonderful poem, thanks for sharing it. I've never really made the connection between onions and love before, after reading that I can't believe I haven't.

These are pretty pictures.
Someone's feeling romantic :P

I used to be really into taking pictures but since I started University I don't really have any time, I still take pictures though, you are tres perceptive!
Ohh thanks for the link, I actually purchased something from the collection today, this;
http://www.hmthegardencollection.com/content/images/no06_lowres.jpg
but it's a lot longer, basically dress length, now that I saw the picture I think I bought it way too big D:
I saw the scalloped shorts you were talking about! They were nice, you should convince your bf to get them haha.
I didn't try out much, just that shirt and a dress.
Awhh don't worry H&M always have great stuff, it's seriously my favourite store right now, for such good prices too, I'm excited for you!
If you're coming to London/UK I will keep my eye out around that time and let you know what's good in stores and what you should check out :)

Sorry for the long comment!
