Ballerina

I have many dreams.
And one of them was to be a ballerina.
I remember owning musical boxes that opened up to reveal little ballerinas twirling
and how content I would be to while away my time staring at them.
The little tutu skirt represents the desire I had as a child
to be as graceful, lithe and nimble as a ballerina dancer.
Sadly I never had the chance to be one.
But that would not keep me from wearing a tutu skirt

I finally managed to watch Mermaids in one sitting last night.
Over the years I have caught bits and pieces of it when it airs on cable but finally saw the entire movie yesterday. And I'm reminded of how great an actress Winona Ryder is, growing up I used to adore her movies during her Johnny Depp era. Oh, and Christina Ricci was hilarious! What a fantastic debut, she really stole the show in every scene she appeared, I laughed the hardest at the pumpkin scene! And of course, who can help but fall in love with the theme, 'The Shoop Shoop song (It's in his kiss)'! The ending scene where they all danced to 'If you wanna be happy' was just about the most perfect thing I've ever seen.
By the end of the movie, I was happily dancing along too:)

I LOVE that outfit. The tiered tutu skirt reminds me of my own favorite skirt (actually a tiered ruffled semi-sheer white petticoat from Hanky Panky), only I think yours is prettier. It goes very nicely with the black lace top. The photos of you as a ballerina are beautiful.

I definitely believe we express our desires and childhood fantasies through our clothing (well, those of us who are in touch with our clothes, that is).

'Mermaids' is one of my all time favorite movies. Classic Winona. Another great one of hers is 'Reality Bites'.

In an earlier comment I mentioned how I LOVE this outfit and how your tiered tutu skirt reminded me of my own favorite skirt (a tiered white semi-sheer white petticoat from Hanky Panky) I recently did a new post on Lady Gaga featuring a photo of myself on a Halloween wearing that petti. Comparing them side by side, your outfit is prettier, and probably much more suited for being the ballerina you've dreamt of being. Love your pretty outfit and the photos.
