Lafite

The boy and I shared a very special night together when he was down for 2 weeks not too long ago. Both of us wanted somewhere special to celebrate all the birthdays/anniversaries/holidays that we were unable to due to the LDR situation. After much debate, we finally decided on Lafite, a French restaurant in Shangri-La Hotel for our very first fine dining experience on the night before New Year's eve. I've always thought fine dining is a very romantic albeit expensive experience and was more than thrilled to finally have my taste of it! For this grand occasion, the boy suited up while I opted for my LBD
We were welcomed by cozy, chic interiors and dim lights as we entered the posh restaurant and were immediately seated by a very attentive and friendly waitress. After studying the menu, I decided to go with the 6 dish explorer set and the boy settled for a scallop paella for appetizer and yuzu sablefish for his main course Boy, was I excited when the smoked oyster, my first dish of the day, arrived. And I was equally delighted with every dish that came after it. Namely, the donut caviar (yum), lobster parmesan (probably the best thing I've ever tasted in my entire life), foie gras (so succulent) and grilled beef (very very tender) which was the main course.

We were also pleasantly surprised when they brought to the table our 'lemon tree' dessert! It's really a lemon tree, I said to the boy! The waitress cheekily divulged that everything on the plate was edible and suffice to say, we enjoyed munching every part of the tree off the plate
dress: topshop, shoes: vincci, purse: charles and keith

We really had a lot of fun on our first fine dining adventure and I'll never forget this wonderful experience (oh and of course, the price of the meal too).

p.s. The girls behind Soak Republic is having a temporary counter at KLCC
from the 11th-19th Jan and they have a special discount for all online buyers. All you need to do is to tell their staff the code ‘I LOVE SOAK REPUBLIC’ before she writes the invoice. So head down there soon to get your jewelry and accessories fix!
