Of pearls and gold chains

"Why do people have to be this lonely? What's the point of it all? Millions of people in this world, all of them yearning, looking to others to satisfy them, yet isolating themselves. Why? Was the earth put here just to nourish human loneliness?"

"And it came to me then. That we were wonderful traveling companions but in the end no more than lonely lumps of metal in their own separate orbits. From far off they look like beautiful shooting stars, but in reality they're nothing more than prisons, where each of us is locked up alone, going nowhere. When the orbits of these two satellites of ours happened to cross paths, we could be together. Maybe even open our hearts to each other. But that was only for the briefest moment. In the next instant we'd be in absolute solitude. Until we burned up and became nothing."

-Haruki Murakami, Sputnik Sweetheart-

I read the first half of Sputnik Sweetheart about a month ago in Borders. It made me wonder how reading it in Japanese would feel like when even reading the English translated copy is so mesmerizing and captivating. I'm thinking of going back there soon to finish it up, I'm so anxious to know the ending. Have any of you read other Haruki Murakami's books? Any favourite/s to recommend?

And this is me, attempting the side plait again. My hair is getting so long that it's so much easier to braid it now. I've also forgotten for a bit how much I love this super red lipstick from Mac. I'm thinking of trying another colour from Mac, maybe a nude or a pink one like Chatterbox?

I always feel a little sad on a Sunday night because the weekend is now officially over. Weekends always fly by far too quickly, don't you think so? Hopefully Monday blues won't hit me or you too hard tomorrow:)

I love Sunday mornings but I get a little sad in the evening knowing that Monday morning will soon be here! I LOVE all the colours in this outfit. They are perfect :) The only Murakami I've read is 'The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle'. It's long but magical!

That quote from Haruki Marukami is indescribably depressing!!! Basically, there is no escape from loneliness. I refuse to believe it :)

Love your outfit, as always you look gorgeous, I love the shoes too!
Ohhh the first quote is my favourite quote from Sputnik Sweetheart! (Well top 3 at least), I love his books! I've read quite a few, I MOST DEFINITELY recommend Norwegian Wood (there is a film of it being released this year) and you should read After Dark. Those are two I especially like.
I've read a book in another language before and read the translated version later, it's definitely really different because of certain phrases/expressions different languages have to express something but I like how books are translated most of the time - woosh what a long comment!

i tried on a cropped blazer from Bardot yesterday with gold buttons but didnt get it n now im regretting after seeing how gd u look in a blazer! sher u're perfecting the art of being a model arent you! >.^

go for the nude lipstick! i've got 1 frm Anna Sui n it's superb! a huge drift away frm pink & red which are just too common on the streets. try the nude lipstick with mac's shiny lipglass. it shld look juz purrrrfect! n besides, NUDE is THE 'in' colour now. nude coloured clothings & nail polishes are featured in mags all over :)

p.s. bf did bring me out for breakfast 2day! so thank goodness i didnt develop the monday blues! how was ur monday? :)

I always regret that I can't read books like that in the original language. It must surely lose something in translation, even if it's wonderfully done.

I love that you go into Borders to read your books! I love bookstores that have coffee shops inside them so you can mull over your choices with a drink. As for recommendations? I would suggest Norweigan Wood. Not only is it a really good book everyone usually suggests it after reading Sputnik Sweetheart. Let me know once you've finished it!
