Much ado about gingham

I simply adore the gingham print
(and its cousin, tartan, of which I am also slowly building a collection of).

Yes, I'm aware that a lot of people would probably
only associate it with table cloth used during picnics at the park.
But I love it nonetheless, I think it gives out an old charm
and I have so many memories of wearing my favourite gingham hair bow
to school every other day when I was young.

So, here I am wearing my very simple gingham dress that brings back
lots of sweet memories because the last time I wore it,
I was in Paris and it was the day I saw the Eiffel Tower.
I love it when you wear something and it transports you back
to another place and time where you last wore it.
Most of my memories are connected to what I wear on that particular day.
Am I the only one who does that?

You're not the only one ... One thing I do is avoid washing the clothes after something magical happened while I was wearing them. I cannot wear unwashed clothes though so I just keep them in the closet and stare at them lovingly until I decide it's finally time to wash them and start wearing them again. :)

I love the gingham print too, and your dress is so cute! I would love a dress in pink and white like yours. I cant say i associate outfits with certain events, but i usually would remember what i wore if someone asked me, if that makes sense :)

I love gingham. It always reminds me of a young Brigitte Bardot with a sunhat in St Tropez. And you look beautiful in it too. I also associate clothes with places and happy memories. I have two pairs of pinstriped pants I bought in the South of France that I cannot part with despite the fact they no longer fit me. They bring back that wonderful holiday. xx
