Love after Love

Long ago, men went to sea, and women waited for them, standing on the edge of the water, scanning the horizon for the tiny ship. Now I wait for Henry. He vanishes unwillingly, without warning. I wait for him. Each moment that I wait feels like a year, an eternity. Each moment is as slow and transparent as glass. Through each moment I can see infinite moments lined up, waiting. Why has he gone where I cannot follow?

-The Time Traveler's Wife

If I had wings, I would fly right this very instant
to wherever you may be.
For I do not want to waste another second, another minute,
another hour, another day without having you by my side.

I have read the book nearly a year ago and last Friday, finally I saw the movie.

Although it's by no means perfect, I still like it and shed a tear or two at the end.
Has any of you seen the movie or read the book? Did you like it?

i've not read the book but i did c the movie yesterday! Rachel McAdams's so pretty :) i did like the movie... i felt her loneliness when he wasnt there during x'mas & new year's; cos even though bf's not a time traveler, he's always absent during x'mas, new year's, my bday & vday! i wish i can travel thru time and be by his side during these times!

I am planning on reading the book because people have said it is much deeper and all around better than the movie (as books always are)...but I did like the movie. I cried like a baby...sniffle.

Um, Eric Bana is yummy.

I haven't read the book, unfortunately. But I have seen the movie.
I loved the movie, but there is always so much more to books than movies, in my opinion, so I'm aching to read it.

i LOVE the book. i've read it twice and would probably read it again. it is just so well done - intricate plot {at times a bit tough to follow} but just amazing.

the movie i thought was really really simplified - and too chronological. but rachel & eric were absolutely lovely. but there was no way it was going to hold a candle to the book!!

I've read the book once a while ago. It was a decent book but for some reason I didn't LOVE it like my friends did? I'd like to check out the movie though.

Dear Sher, I have left you an award on my blog. :)

I have not read or seen The Time Traveller's Wife, but I really really want to read it. I think it will be a great story, although it is such a thick book and I am such a slow reader...

I watched the movie over the summer and did a post on it myself. I absolutely love it. I've been meaning to buy the book to read which I think I will do over the winter break when I have more free time to read. Great post, Sher. I love the quote.

Great post! I did it backwards - I saw movie FIRST, loved it, then saw Book, loved it more, and realized all the things the Movie had left out! But they did give a great attempt at it. The scene in the movie that touched me the most was him on the train with his Mother. Ah, killed me. Both were so good.
