All puffed up

I really think that having curly locks makes it so much easier for one to try out new hair styles. As you can see from the pictures, I twisted my hair into a loose bun on the side and I must say it turned out to be quite a romantic look which I am pleased with.

Wearing this puffed sleeved dress instantly brought to my mind a certain redhead beloved by many all around the world who expressed sheer delight at puffed sleeves herself. I became first acquainted with Anne of Green Gables through the well known tv series that aired in the mid-80s and from then on, I was fully captivated by the magic of Anne Shirley. I remembered well the scene where shy and quiet Matthew fumbled to purchase a new dress for Anne because he had noticed that she dresses differently than the other girls. I got all misty-eyed when Anne flew into the barn to thank Matthew for the new dress. In raptures over the thoughtful gift, she stood by the doorway clutching the new dress and quietly exclaimed "puffed sleeves" and Matthew replied "the puffiest". And when she looked at him with absolute love and devotion in her eyes and he said, "Don't you like it", it was just the most touching scene ever that tugged hard on my heartstrings.

A lovely friend gifted me the whole set of Anne of Green Gables books and till today, it remains as one of the best birthday presents anyone has ever given to me. I can't wait till the day where I can share these treasured books of mine with my daughter and later on, with her daughters. I can only hope they will fall in love as dearly as I have with Anne with an e.

What about you? Are you as deliriously in love with Anne and puffed sleeves as I am?

Oh I love Anne of Green Gables, and the scene you described is exceptionally touching.

There is something very whimsical about puffed sleeves. I think I want to go one step further and try balloon sleeves ...maybe that's too far.

Hmm I have never read Anne of Green Gables; in fact, I had never heard of it until a few months ago. Everybody seems to love it, and I am thoroughly tempted to read it.

Your hair looks great! I've always loved Anne of Green Gables too. When I was little, my grandmother gave me an Anne of Green Gables book.

i've always secretly wanted to have curly hair just so my messy buns would look 100x prettier than if i put my hair up with straight hair. so jealous :)

I love the little bit of puff about your shoulders.

Those puffy sleeves are the perfect addition for a simple black dress! I read Anne of Green Gables when I was a little girl but it has been so long I have somehow forgotten all of it! Maybe I need to get it and read it again!

Your hair does look nice in that bun. And I agree curly hair makes alot of styles easier to do, but it also has disadvantages too :) harder to maintain and more bad hair days I say.

Two things came to mind on this post.
1) I LOVE puffed sleeves!! There's a bunch of shirts and dresses at H&M with that design!
2) I just about fell off my bed in excitement when you mentioned Anne of Green Gables. I started the books in eighth grade and became obsessed with them. I think I read all of them in at least a month or so. I've watched the first two of said mini series, but no the third. Ahh I LOVE Anne Shirley & Gilbert Blythe. Everything about those books just made me melt with happiness =)))

That is a romantic story I must say! I haven't heard that book until my daughter introduced it to me, she loved it to death! I might gonna read it after reading 'Her Fearful Symmetry' I'm hooked with ghosts and vampires LOL

You shoes are gorgeous! I love red (my fave actually) but it can never suits my skin colour, it is just wrong for me and I'm sad about that. Green suits me better...

Your hair is lovely... and so I'm imagining you being the Anne of Green Gables!!!

It's interesting how you presume that's you will have only 1 daughter, but you also think that she will have more than 1. Isn't it? :P

Anyway, I love your hair do, it is romantic indeed!

love the twisted pony on the side. it's different and adorable. the red shoes are a nice touch to the look too. a good pop of color is always welcomed!

thanks for your compliments on my old photos too. i would love to keep a vintage shop going, but it proved to be much more work than i imagined. now i'm in school with no extra time, but after re-looking at the photos I'm itching to do it again sometime. i guess i don't have to sell all the time.. just when i can!
